As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next-generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity, and modern electronic systems. Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Your responsibilities
We are looking for an outstanding and passionate Analysis Lead Engineer with a strong background in structural stress analysis to join our innovative team.
- Sizing and stress analysis of airframe structures by means of hand calculations, numerical simulations (FEM), and optimization techniques.
- Structural analysis of structures in accordance with aerospace analysis methodologies and the applicable regulatory frameworks (EASA Part-21, J, and CS27).
- Conducting trade studies as part of the development of Kopter products.
- Conducting static and fatigue analysis for structures as part of the process of obtaining a prototype permit to flight or aircraft type certification.
- Participating in the definition of material and structural tests.
- Preparation of analysis reports, technical notes, and presentations.
- Preparing and managing work packages performed internally and externally.
- Following and supporting flight test activities with a focus on structures (definition of static and fatigue monitoring limits, review of flight test data).
Qualifications
- MSc degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
- Understanding of lightweight structures design.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in aerospace/aviation.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks (EASA Part-21, J, and CS27).
- English proficiency at minimum B2 level (spoken and written).
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment with high pressure to deliver.
- Comfort with multi-tasking and juggling several tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited guidance.
- Experience with first principles approach.
- Experience and knowledge of traditional hand calculation methods.
- Experience and knowledge of composite materials and analysis.
- Experience and knowledge of FEA using Hyperworks, Hypermesh, Nastran/Optistruct, or other packages.
- Experience in optimizing lightweight structures.
