Cloud Architect

Job Description:

This position requires expertise in AWS observability services such as CloudWatch, X Ray, and OpenSearch. The candidate should have experience designing observability platforms using both managed and open source tools like Kibana, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and FluentBit. Familiarity with hybrid/cloud to on-premises setups and understanding of platform engineering practices are essential. The role involves delivering architecture documentation and prototypes.

Activities to be supported:

• Discovery phase: Assess current observability tools, architecture, and team usage to identify gaps and potential improvements.
• Design of observability platform: Create a scalable, cloud-native architecture leveraging AWS services (e.g., Amazon Managed Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, X Ray). Incorporate UX/DevX considerations for onboarding and design integration mechanisms for alert forwarding.
• Governance and operational model: Define standards, naming conventions, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and cost governance, including chargeback/showback if applicable.
• Prototype / POC: Implement a basic setup demonstrating architecture and integration with application teams and on-premises alerting systems.
