The Position

Group Communications (GC) is responsible for creating a lasting positive image of Roche and are representing the company's voice on a Group level: We communicate Roche’s strategy and how we deliver on our purpose of “Doing now what patients need next” to internal and external audiences. We drive integrated and global campaigns and provide platforms for communications business partners as well as our affiliates to engage with audiences. We contribute to building trust of key stakeholders, to managing Roche’s brand and reputation and to building a favorable environment for our business. The Role

As a member of the Communications Leadership Team (CLT), you will be responsible with your peers and the Head of Group Communications (GC) for collectively leading the global communications organization. You are acting as the Communications Business Partner to the CEO of Roche Pharma. This critical position has a global scope, leading a team of professionals around the world. This position includes the overall responsibility for the strategic leadership of Pharma Communications across all Pharma Divisions.

Your opportunities

  • You lead and oversee the Global Pharma Communications Business Partnering Team.

  • With the Pharma Communication BP Team, Pharma leaders, Group Communications Centers of Excellence and other stakeholders, you develop and implement global Pharma communications strategies and educate internal and external audiences on the assigned function's mission, purpose, strategy, objectives, plans, progress, and key initiatives.

  • You create Pharma communications strategies, plans and materials/assets for communicating the function's organizational structure, ongoing leadership team communications and updates, product milestones, therapeutic area communications as well as supporting the function's strategies and initiatives in employee development and engagement.

  • You establish, implement and oversee functional communication policies, procedures, standards, templates and other tools to drive consistencies, efficiencies and best-in-class communication across the function.

  • You ensure Roche, the Pharma division and the Pharma Leadership Team are flawlessly represented in all functional communications strategies, plans and messaging/communications.

  • You develop metrics and mechanisms to measure results from functional communications’ strategies, plans and tactics across the division.

  • You drive the adoption of best practices and opportunities for continued improvement in all Pharma communications.

Who you are

You have a university degree as well as significant experience in strategic communications in a fast paced environment. You bring experience in a variety of communications disciplines such as public affairs, media relations, issues management and product communications. You possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and are comfortable working in a matrixed and multicultural environment. Additionally you bring the following skills and competencies:

  • 10+ years of experience in communication preferably gained in a corporate environment, or PR agency experience supporting healthcare clients. You have demonstrated that your experience and impact as a leader and communicator will enable you to be successful in leading a global communications team.

  • You have 5 or more years’ leadership experience as a people leader; experience leading other leaders is preferred. You role model a servant and creative leadership style, motivated by our shared purpose, providing vision, inspiration and catalyzing the organization to deliver communications excellence and value.

  • You bring the ability to coach a team of high performing employees; you enable performance that delivers collective value beyond individual contributions.

  • You are experienced in building and leading diverse teams, developing talent and creating a culture that is transparent and value-driven to accelerate the personal growth of employees.

  • You actively role model and enable the Roche Leadership Commitments, Collective Leadership and Roche Operating Principles throughout your organisation.

  • You demonstrate abilities to develop and manage large-scale global communications strategies, plans, activities and teams.

  • Outstanding strategic agility: your outstanding grasp of the healthcare industry enables you to create robust and innovative strategies.

  • Outstanding consulting skills: you have outstanding active listening skills, ability to extract and quickly process key information, summarise key needs or interests of internal customers; and provide targeted and appropriate insights and recommendations.

  • Excellent executive impact: you show great ability to present with integrity and presence as a spokesperson, communicator, mediator and presenter.

  • You demonstrate excellent change management skills and a proven track record of effectively driving organisational transformation and innovation.

  • You have a track record of presenting to and coaching senior company executives/audiences and contributing to influencing their decision-making.

  • You are fluent in English (verbal and written); German is an advantage
