Operations Manager at Amazon

Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfill and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers receive their items on time. As an Area Manager, you'll ensure your site runs smoothly to meet customer demand. You will lead a team dedicated to maintaining safety, efficiency, and high quality, while managing various projects across our network to drive productivity.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Create, oversee, and promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
  2. Analyze and implement changes to maintain high quality and productivity levels
  3. Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimize productivity, and enhance customer service quality within your area
  4. Evaluate shift performance against business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence
  5. Collaborate with management colleagues to standardize shift practices

A Day in the Life

You will work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, focusing on maximizing productivity. Your main responsibilities include fostering a safety culture, upholding quality and performance standards, overseeing process improvements, and driving their implementation. Your day will be varied, ranging from team management and daily operations to process improvements and contingency tasks. You will also serve as a role model and mentor to new managers.

About the Team

Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) handles heavy items like furniture and large appliances. Our team manages the entire service from supply chain fulfillment to delivery and returns, providing an extra level of customer care by unpacking, assembling, installing, and removing old items as needed. We focus on safety, productivity, and innovation to improve how customers buy and receive large goods.

We plan to expand our fulfillment centers and delivery stations across the UK and Europe. Most of us work during the day, with some night shifts in delivery stations. Our team comprises individuals from operations, supply chain, business intelligence, and program management, all crucial to growing this segment of our business.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
  • Experience working in another logistics environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
