We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Production Maintenance to join our Sensor and Cartridge (S&C) Manufacturing Unit in Rotkreuz. This leadership role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our production lines and equipment. You will be an integral member of the S&C Manufacturing Leadership Team, driving maintenance excellence and production uptime within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
As the Head of Production Maintenance, you will lead a team of Technik and Automation specialists, guiding them according to Roche Leadership principles. Your primary focus will be on sustainably ensuring robust maintenance support for our production departments, encompassing both preventative strategies and responsive solutions. This position requires a strong on-site presence and a genuine passion for the shop floor environment, collaborating closely with production teams and Engineers (MSAT) to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. You will be accountable for the Automation and Technik support concepts, playing a key role in our operational success.
Your responsibilities in this role
Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a production maintenance organization of approximately 15-20 people and two Stream leads across shifts.
Strategy & Collaboration: Translate the S&C Operations Strategy into clear departmental objectives. Act as a VACC Leader. Ensure effective collaboration with MSAT, local site management, facility management, and external providers.
Maintenance & Operations: Oversee the preventative maintenance program for production lines, equipment, and utilities. Take accountability for minimizing planned and unplanned downtime and maximizing machine uptime.
Cost & Efficiency: Manage the cost center and CAPEX budget responsibly. Identify and implement savings opportunities and optimize operational costs by driving continuous improvement processes (CIP).
Resources & Material: Plan resources effectively to ensure maintenance capacity aligns with production needs. Support manufacturing projects with technical expertise and manage recruitment. Oversee spare part management and Material End-of-Life processes. Define and manage training requirements for the department.
Quality, SHE & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities support operations running in compliance with internal and external regulations. Act as a SHE role model.
Proven experience in leading and developing production maintenance teams, ideally including Technik and Automation specialists, within a manufacturing setting
A hands-on approach with a strong commitment to being present and engaged on the shop floor
Strong technical understanding of production equipment maintenance, automation concepts, preventative maintenance strategies, and troubleshooting
Track record of successfully driving continuous improvement (CIP) initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, uptime, and yield
Solid knowledge of quality standards (e.g., RFT, SPC), SHE regulations, and compliance requirements within a regulated production environment
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate operational strategy into actionable team objectives
Fluency in German is required; English language skills are a significant advantage
