Tax Manager

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing the tax efficiencies and risks of about 40 container terminals internationally in addition to the Holding locations.
  • Ensuring tax efficiency in the current group structure through restructuring, liquidations, refinancing.
  • Ensuring tax efficiency in M&A and working closely with business development and legal teams to ensure tax risks are identified.
  • Overseeing / managing tax audits.
  • Oversight of tax risks in local operations.
  • Accuracy of Transfer pricing documentation.
  • Arm’s length review of intercompany transactions including financing.
  • Enduring appropriate substance for the group.
  • Compliance with OCED directives / guidelines and adoption into local law of the BEPS initiatives.

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of countries with the team responsibilities in mind.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Skill :

  • Advanced qualification in Accounting / Finance, Tax or Legal with tax background.
  • 8-10 years’ experience working in Big 4 and in-house. In-house tax experience would be a benefit.
  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to concisely document and communicate tax conclusions to Senior Manager and Management.
  • Team player willing to carry out routine tasks together with the rest of the team to ensure tax is compliant and documented.
  • Great sense of responsibility, attention to detail and strong personal drive and motivation.
  • Excellent numeracy skills combined with an inquiring, analytical mind.
  • Ability to discuss tax issues and build relationships with finance and non-finance teams.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English with strong expertise in concise and effective written and presentation communication skills.
  • Very tactful with high level of diplomacy to enable successful interaction across a multi-cultural environment.
  • Expert user of Excel spreadsheet software and other Microsoft tools.
  • Ability or willingness to learn new IT systems.
  • Building relationships with the teams at Headquarters to gain support and buy-in for the tax team’s responsibilities.
  • Building relationships with the tax / finance teams in the terminals to show support and understanding of local tax matters.
  • Gaining a detailed understanding of a broad international terminal portfolio and being able to identify tax risks and opportunities and communicate them effectively to senior management.
