Engineering Functional Leader (Sub-Transmission) 80-100% (w / m / d)

Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.

For our Power Products division at the Zurich-Oerlikon site, we are looking for a competent, supportive, and empathetic leader to manage an international team within our high-voltage product organization. This role offers significant autonomy with occasional travel opportunities.

Your responsibilities

1. Lead a team of 5 primary lead engineers in Switzerland and 5 virtual lead engineers in our operating center.
2. Oversee the successful execution of our project portfolio, from sales handover through engineering, production, to service handover, managing technical and commercial aspects (cost, time, scope).
3. Conduct structured project reviews and define contingency measures.
4. Enhance engineering and project management processes, optimizing the value chain in collaboration with engineering, project management, field operations, supply chain, and production departments.
5. Drive design optimizations and cost savings through the design-to-value process.
6. Promote a culture of innovation and change, leading by example.
7. Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Your background

1. At least 2 years of experience in primary equipment engineering at a lead engineer level or extensive technical expertise in gas insulated switchgears.
2. Proven track record in team or functional management, with strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
3. Fluent in English; German language skills are a significant advantage. Additional languages are welcome.
4. Demonstrates innovative, performance-oriented thinking and aligns with Hitachi Energy's values, contributing positively to the work environment.
