BakerHicks is a leading consultancy in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK, expanding its power team in the DACH region, and is seeking an ambitious High-voltage Cable Engineer to support this growth.

The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of high voltage cable systems from 11kV to 400kV, onshore or offshore.

Responsibilities include the production of cable system design calculations, cable rating calculations, thermomechanical and electromagnetic force calculations, and collaboration with CAD technicians on cable route layouts and trench cross sections.

Requirements include full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide high voltage cable systems and installation designs, acting as lead cable engineer/planner.
  2. Collaborate with UK design teams to ensure compliance with local standards.
  3. Ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of design scope.

Your Profile

  • Experience in producing or managing designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
  • Full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.
  • Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.

Additional Information

The typical project duration is between 6 and 24 months. Work locations are primarily at the customer site, with some opportunities for remote work in consultation with project management.
