The Product Sustainability Engineer will be crucial in developing tools and processes to meet customer expectations regarding product environmental performance. Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering environmental declarations such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs). The role involves collaboration with product managers and R&D teams to identify initiatives to reduce environmental impacts and maintaining Life Cycle Cost (LCC) documentation to support sustainability and cost efficiency.

Main Tasks

  1. Lead Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Impact Analysis from start to finish:
  2. Research and collect life cycle inventory data, ensure data quality, develop new datasets to address gaps
  3. Create product life cycle assessments to evaluate impacts like GHG emissions, energy, water use, waste, etc.
  4. Produce Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) following ISO-14025 standards
  5. Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle
  6. Develop and monitor quality plans for each product phase
  7. Ensure compliance with customer requirements, standards, and regulations
  8. Participate in creating and updating technical documents (FMEA, control plans, PPAP files)
  9. Maintain up-to-date Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis for products/systems
  10. Manage non-conformities, analyze root causes, implement corrective actions, and monitor their effectiveness

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial), energy, sustainability, or environmental disciplines
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in LCA, sustainability, energy, or environmental management
  • Experience with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 conformant LCA reports
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Familiarity with product design, manufacturing, supply chain, circular economy, and waste reduction principles
