The Regional EH&S Manager is primarily responsible for executing AdaptHealth environmental, health, and occupational safety efforts across the region. This EH&S leader is responsible for regional compliance with U.S. OSHA, EPA, DOT, and workers’ compensation rules and regulations. This role serves as the EH&S culture shaping champion in the region. This leader assures EH&S competency of all Medical Equipment Technicians (METs), Oxygen Trans fill, Warehouse staff, and other employees. This person assists in the deployment and administration of vehicle safety programs, including telematic camera systems. This leader maintains efficient and effective employee training, risk mitigation, and EH&S documentation in compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization, including our EH&S duty of care.
- Manages multiple AdaptHealth facilities from an EH&S perspective across multiple U.S. states.
- Ensures compliance with U.S. OSHA, EPA, DOT, and workers’ compensation rules and regulations in the region.
- Responsible for implementing EH&S programs, reducing risk, and fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the multi-state region.
- Conducts assessments and inspections, in partnership with Operations, to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies and standards.
- Maintains and submits required EH&S reports and documentation internally and externally.
- Continually assesses metrics and Key Performance Indicators to drive continued improvement in the region.
- Leads regional incident investigations, determines root causes, and recommends corrective/preventative actions.
- Tracks and analyzes EH&S data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manages regional workers’ compensation cases in partnership with the Corporate EH&S function.
- Develops and delivers EH&S training programs for employees and contractors at all levels.
- Promotes a culture of safety/EH&S through leadership, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on EH&S matters, providing guidance to site managers and employees.
- Oversees waste management, hazardous materials handling, and pollution prevention efforts.
- Develops and implements sustainability initiatives to minimize the company’s environmental impact.
- Ensures compliance with environmental permits, emissions, sampling events, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Assists in the development of emergency response plans for all regional locations.
- Conducts drills and training, in partnership with Operations, to prepare employees and contractors for emergencies such as fires, spills, active shooter, workplace violence, and natural disasters.
- Coordinates with local emergency responders and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the EH&S department and with other functions.
- Completes assigned compliance training, educational programs, and professional development as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Management/Supervision:
- This technical, subject matter expert role is not anticipated to have direct reports. The role achieves its goals by influencing others, developing followership, and fostering healthy relationships in a highly matrixed environment. Influencing without direct authority is critical to the success of a Regional EH&S Manager.
- Responsible for ensuring an effective EH&S on-boarding in the region and providing comprehensive training and regular feedback to internal customers.
- Establishes annual goals and objectives for the region based on the organization’s strategic EH&S goals.
- Responsible for achieving organizational performance goals through influential leadership and active support.

- Knowledge of EH&S-related laws, regulations and best practices, or the ability to learn them in a timely manner.
- Experience managing workers’ compensation and automotive claims, or the ability to learn these skills in a timely manner.

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college is required; bachelor’s degree in an EH&S or STEM program preferred.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years EH&S experience with multiple site oversight
- Manager-level experience in a related position, preferably in the DME industry.
- Professional certification in the EH&S field or the willingness to obtain them (i.e., CSP (certified safety professional), CHMM (cert haz mat mgr cert), CIH (cert industrial hygienist), CSHM (cert health & safety mgr), REM (registered environmental mgr), CEP(cert environmental prof) preferred.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
- Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall activities and work levels fluctuate.
- Subject to extended periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and other office equipment.
- Must be able to lift thirty (30) pounds as needed.
- Physical and mental ability to provide EH&S assessments.
- Requires air and ground travel throughout the region up to 50% of the time; may require use of a personal vehicle at times.
- Work locations will vary including in-office, at an AdaptHealth facility like a warehouse, and remote from home.
