Senior Legal Manager (Contracts)
Main Responsibilities
TIL is looking for a Senior Legal Manager to expand its Commercial Contracting and Projects legal team. The position will assist the Technical Team with negotiation and contract drafting for construction and procurement projects, as well as related pre-dispute and dispute matters. Additionally, the role involves advising on legal aspects of business decisions and supporting the management approval process. The key tasks include:
- Draft, review, and interpret a wide variety of commercial contracts, including construction, equipment procurement, consulting, and IT contracts, along with related correspondence.
- Support negotiations across different jurisdictions of commercial contracts and advise on associated legal risks.
- Provide pragmatic, business-minded legal advice on issues arising in the context of commercial contracting.
- Develop and maintain contract templates for commercial purposes.
- Support contract approval and document management processes.
- Advise on potential and actual disputes, gathering relevant facts to progress them.
- Work closely with other company functions, including finance, tax, insurance, compliance, and competition, to ensure their interests are considered in contracting.
- Coordinate the use of outside legal advisers.
- Be prepared to travel worldwide as needed.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Skills :
- University degree in law or an equivalent nationally approved qualification.
- Admitted to the Bar (past or present) with 5-12 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. In-house experience is an advantage.
- Outstanding knowledge of contract and commercial law, including familiarity with the FIDIC suite of contracts; experience with public-private partnerships, public tenders, and port concessions is advantageous.
- Knowledge of English law, including UK qualifications, is beneficial.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proactive in assisting internal clients and providing innovative legal solutions.
- Ability to work independently while keeping others informed.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and take responsibility.
- Experience in maritime and terminal sectors is an advantage.
