GP Cellulose GmbH, in Zug, Switzerland, part of Georgia-Pacific’s Packaging and Cellulose Division, is hiring an experienced professional to act as ‘Technical Service Manager’ and join our team in Zug, Switzerland.
In this role, you will be the technical interface between our customers, our business team covering the EMEIA area, and our global organization in the US, including mills, Quality, R&D, and EHS. You will assist the customer in maximizing the value from our pulps and communicate relevant information to and from the customer and the Cellulose business and facilities.
Our Team
The team in Zug, Switzerland, where you will be based, comprises sales and support functions for EMEIA, along with some corporate roles, totaling about 30 colleagues.
GP Cellulose (Atlanta, GA) owns and operates three large softwood pulp mills in North America, located in Brunswick, GA; New Augusta, MS; and Perdue Hill, AL, along with a cotton linter pulp mill in Memphis, TN. The mills produce fluff pulp for absorbent hygiene and sanitary products, bale pulp for tissue, paper, and filtration industries, and specialty pulps for value-added papers and chemical cellulose applications. The company also operates advanced R&D and Fluff Technical laboratories in Memphis, TN, and Brunswick, GA.
Your Job
- Collaborate with the Sales Team to develop new customers and applications in the region, supporting development with trial orders.
- Oversee product performance from a technical, regulatory, and sustainability perspective across the region.
- Build relationships with key customer partners to serve as a trusted technical contact.
- Provide technical support, including troubleshooting, trial support, and training, in collaboration with various teams.
- Utilize our Labs to evaluate trials, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality.
- Interpret Fluff or R&D Lab Reports to diagnose issues and recommend improvements.
- Conduct regular product surveys in the EMEIA market to inform customers about trends.
- Participate in customer projects like Six Sigma, cost reduction, and product performance improvements.
- Establish relationships with machine manufacturers, stay updated on new equipment, and support machine trials and setups.
- Assist machine manufacturers with trials to improve fiberization, core-forming, and compaction systems.
Your Profile
- Willingness to travel globally (~30%) for customer visits, presentations, and support.
- Educational background in engineering or a scientific discipline.
- Open-minded service mentality and market-driven entrepreneurship.
- Extensive experience in absorbent hygiene, food, or related industries.
- Basic understanding of pulp, paper, mechanics, and chemistry.
- Experience with hygiene or airlaid production lines.
- Knowledge of hygiene product performance criteria.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with dry converting and forming from fluff pulp rolls or sheets.
- Knowledge of market fluff pulps and their performance.
- Technical background in Kraft pulping and fluff pulp sheet forming.
- Ability to work in customer-facing roles and at trade shows.
- Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
