In a global and cross-functional environment, the System Development department is responsible for workflow optimization and the successful integration of hardware, software, consumables, and reagents to finally perform the system verification of diagnostics instruments.
As a System Development Software Tester, you will work as a part of a cross-functional team on the development of new complex diagnostics systems consisting of fluidics, robotics software, thermal, electrical, mechanical, and biochemistry elements.
As a Software Test Engineer in the new Analyzer Project, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan and execute work packages within your area of responsibility, including reporting and escalation of issues to management.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge in setting up automated testing environments and using data analysis tools for statistical reporting.
  • Experience with Network Protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL).
  • Familiarity with Gateways, Firewalls, and Remote Access.
  • Subject matter expert for communication protocols between instruments and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Provide guidance and support, with flexibility to transfer knowledge across tasks/subprojects within SD.
  • Design and execute experiments in the lab, create test cases based on product requirements, analyze results, and prepare regulatory documents. Track issues and verify bug fixes or anomalies.
  • Generate documentation, procedures, and technical reports to support daily activities and milestones. Author official documents in English, such as Design History Files, and present project results.
  • Coordinate efforts with other functional areas, including hardware, software, consumables, assay, and algorithm development.

Who you are

You’re someone eager to influence your development, seeking a company that allows you to pursue interests across functions and geographies. Where your job title is a starting point, not the final definition of who you are.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in a technical or life sciences discipline (e.g., Software or Electrical Engineering, Electronic/Automation, Bio- and Process Engineering) or relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in the development of diagnostic systems or related fields.
  • Ability to work independently and handle cross-departmental tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English and German.
  • Strong analytical and interdisciplinary thinking skills.
  • Experience in statistical data analysis.
  • Experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and labs with biosafety levels S1 and S2.
