Main Purpose: Trafigura is actively recruiting an experienced and visionary Head of Treasury Technology. We are looking for a proactive and delivery-focused candidate to manage and implement key technology and data initiatives across Group Treasury functions.

This role is embedded within the business and acts as the bridge between Treasury needs and technical delivery, ensuring that solutions not only meet functional requirements but also drive adoption and measurable business outcomes. You will lead project execution, shape business requirements, coordinate stakeholders, and play a critical role in managing change — ensuring the Treasury team embraces and benefits from the digital tools and processes being introduced.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that Group Treasury not only deploy the right tools and systems — but also realise their full value. With both delivery and change ownership, you will help unlock efficiency, insight, and agility in how financial resources are managed at scale. Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global technology strategy for Treasury and Payments operations aligned with organisational objectives

  • Drive digital initiatives to enhance treasury and payment capabilities, efficiency, and control

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key technology partners

  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and industry trends affecting treasury

  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing technology teams across treasury and payments functions

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence

  • Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career progression opportunities

  • Manage resource allocation and budgeting for technology initiatives


Treasury Technology Infrastructure

  • Lead the design and implementation of treasury management systems and related technologies

  • Oversee cash management technology solutions, including forecasting tools, liquidity management platforms, and banking connectivity

  • Ensure seamless integration between treasury systems and enterprise financial platforms

  • Oversee the architecture and infrastructure supporting treasury and payment systems

  • Drive innovation in financial technology, including evaluation and implementation of emerging solutions (APIs, blockchain, AI/ML)

  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new treasury and payment technologies

  • Develop centers of excellence for specialised treasury technology domains

Global Payments Leadership

  • Lead dedicated global payments teams with responsibility for end-to-end payments operations

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap to industrialise payment processes across all areas

  • Standardise and optimise payment workflows, approval mechanisms, and controls

  • Drive the adoption of payment automation, reducing manual interventions and operational risk

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for payment operations efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness

Governance & Compliance

  • Establish robust governance frameworks for treasury and payment systems

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions

  • Implement and maintain strong security protocols and controls for financial systems

  • Oversee system access management, segregation of duties, and audit trails

  • Lead regulatory reporting technology initiatives

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Finance, IT, Operations, and business units to align treasury technology with broader organisational needs

  • Report to executive leadership on technology strategy, initiatives, and performance

  • Manage relationships with banking partners regarding technology integration and capabilities

  • Collaborate with internal audit, risk management, and compliance teams

  • Develop and lead change management plans to support transitions to new systems or processes.

  • Engage users early and often through stakeholder analysis, communications, and feedback loops.

  • Drive training strategy and delivery — ensuring Treasury teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to adopt new tools confidently.

  • Identify resistance or adoption risks and proactively address them with targeted interventions.

  • Serve as a champion for continuous improvement, encouraging iterative feedback and refinement post-deployment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in treasury, payments, and financial technology roles

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale technology transformations in treasury or payments

  • Experience managing global teams and cross-functional projects

Technical Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of treasury management systems, payment platforms, and banking technologies

  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and risk management techniques

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture and system integration methodologies

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting treasury and payment operations globally

  • Exposure to cloud platforms, data integration, and modern Treasury tech landscape (e.g., APIs, ISO 20022).

Leadership & Skills

  • Strategic vision and ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions

  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing diverse, global teams

  • Strong project and program management capabilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proven ability to drive change and innovation in complex organisations
