Job Overview
The 6G Welder will be responsible for performing high-precision welding on pipes positioned at 45-degree angles using SMAW and GTAW processes. The role requires strong welding skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and proven experience in oil & gas, shipbuilding, or construction environments. Candidates must possess a valid trade test certificate and demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality welds that meet project specifications and safety standards.
Job Role & Responsibilities
- Perform 6G welding on pipes using SMAW and GTAW processes.
- Specialize in welding pipes at a 45-degree fixed angle.
- Interpret and understand welding drawings, material specifications, and welding symbols.
- Prepare welding surfaces, align pipe joints, and maintain proper weld penetration.
- Conduct welding repairs and rework as required by QC inspectors.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and machines in proper working condition.
- Work closely with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors for job coordination.
- Ensure all welding work complies with safety regulations and project quality standards.
- Participate in toolbox talks and follow all HSE guidelines at the worksite.
- Produce clean, accurate, and defect‑free welds suitable for NDT inspection.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Welding or related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a 6G Welder in oil & gas, shipbuilding, or construction projects.
- Must be skilled in SMAW and GTAW welding techniques.
- Strong understanding of pipe welding positions, techniques, and quality requirements.
- Proven experience welding under 6G fixed pipe conditions (45° position).
- Valid Trade Test Certificate (Mandatory).
- Experience in Gulf or overseas industrial projects preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in SMAW and GTAW welding.
- Ability to produce high-quality welds in all positions.
- Good understanding of welding safety rules and HSE compliance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and precision welding capability.
