Job description

We are currently looking for a Transportation Design Manager for our multi-billion infrastructure project in Doha, Qatar.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of transportation design services required by managing a group of technical specialists.
• Management of delivery of the design of the various portions of the projects by verifying consistency in the design with respect to adherence to design criteria and required standards.
• Manage the scope development and tendering process by the engineering staff for procurement of design consultants and third party reviewers.
• Participate in the VE and manage all VE studies, constructability and other workshops; and drive the on-schedule submittal of the design deliverables.
• Keep Project Management Team informed of changes made in the field to ensure timely processing of contract change orders.
• Maintain overall knowledge of drawings, specifications, general contracts and time schedules.
• Manage the responses to design RFIs and reviews/comments on change orders.
• Ensure all transportation design works are comprehensive and discussed with various engineers for best implementation and installation of services in coordination with other parties and contractor.
• May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies in public meetings to support the client.
• Work with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for various elements of the project, ensuring the project meets or exceeds established goals.
• Provide necessary technical support and design review/audit services to Project Management Team ensuring correctness and quality of implementation of requirements.
• Support the Project Management Director in performing other tasks related to transportation aspects of the project.

Qualifications

• 15 years experience, demonstrate experience in key management role.
• Transportation related design and/or construction; construction of large industrial or infrastructural projects with experience in design of bridges, highways, expressways and/or intersections.
• Excellent written and oral communication and proven ability to perform management role.
• Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Knowledge of current technology and its effective use on the project.
• 4-year degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer registration.
