Technical Safety Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar - Residential

A leading engineering services provider is seeking a Technical Safety Engineer to support detailed engineering for offshore oil and gas projects, including brownfield modifications and greenfield developments. The role focuses on safety, loss prevention, and HSE design across offshore platforms and wellhead facilities.

Role Overview

The Technical Safety Engineer will prepare, review, and check safety and HSE deliverables, including design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. The role requires coordination with lead engineers and multi-discipline teams to ensure compliance with international codes and standards, and to support project objectives from design through procurement and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed engineering of brownfield modifications and offshore platforms, including wellhead facilities
  • Coordinate with lead engineers and multiple discipline teams to ensure alignment on project requirements
  • Prepare HSE drawings, layouts, design basis documents, technical philosophies, and other safety reports
  • Perform engineering calculations and documentation related to technical HSE and loss prevention
  • Ensure designs comply with international standards and codes, including Shell DEP, NFPA, and API
  • Support lead engineers in safety studies and workshops such as HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, and SIMOPS
  • Review deliverables including design calculations, drawings, specifications, schedules, HAC layouts, F&G layouts, and MTOs for technical correctness and project compliance
  • Prepare and review procurement-related documents, including material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor drawing reviews
  • Contribute to project closeout activities for safety studies and reports
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in detailed engineering for offshore oil and gas projects
  • At least 5 years' experience in brownfield modification engineering for offshore platforms and wellheads
  • Strong knowledge of international safety codes and standards (Shell DEP, NFPA, API)
  • Experience preparing technical safety deliverables, layouts, and calculations
  • Familiarity with HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIMOPS, and other safety studies
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multi-discipline engineering teams
