Job summary

A prominent energy company is seeking a Sr. Economic Analyst responsible for analyzing LNG spot sales and supporting evaluations of business opportunities. The ideal candidate should have over 8 years of experience in the hydrocarbon industry, particularly in LNG, and possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Strong analytical and communication skills, as well as proficiency in economic modelling, are essential for this role.

Primary Purpose of the Job

The Sr. Economic Analyst is responsible for performing economic analysis of LNG spot sales or diversion opportunities and supporting the evaluation of other short-term business opportunities within the QatarEnergy LNG value chain.

Responsibilities

This position will:

  • Analyze short-term LNG sales opportunities and market trends to determine pricing and economic impacts.
  • Support reviews of LNG sales agreements and fiscal terms.
  • Prepare reports for management and shareholders on spot sales and value uplift.
  • Maintain and calibrate economic models in coordination with Marketing and Finance teams.
  • Monitor LNG pricing systems and assist in configuration and maintenance.
  • Contribute to business systems development and perform control checks under EEBE guidelines.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years in analytical or marketing roles in the hydrocarbon industry, including 2+ years in LNG.
    • Strong knowledge of economic analysis, financial reporting, and project management.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to develop and maintain models.
    • Competent in economic and risk modelling, LNG market fundamentals, and commercial project management.
Educational Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Business, Economics, or Finance.
