Job Title: Senior Reservoir Engineer

Contract: 1-year secondment (with potential extension)
Location: Qatar
Work Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours per day

Overview

A leading oil and gas operator is seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer to support mature oil and gas fields. The role focuses on reservoir performance optimisation, field redevelopment, and numerical reservoir simulation to maximise production and value. This is a residential role with hands‑on involvement in field studies, infill drilling planning, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct reservoir studies and performance optimisation for mature large oil and gas fields
  • Develop and execute field development plans using numerical reservoir simulation (black oil and compositional models)
  • Perform history matching, forecasting, and reservoir performance monitoring
  • Support monitoring and management of mature oil fields under waterflood
  • Plan infill drilling and workover operations with detailed surveillance and optimisation strategies
  • Conduct decline analysis, resource evaluation, classification, and booking according to PRMS
  • Redevelop mature fields using EOR techniques
  • Perform uncertainty analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for internal stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum BSc in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Applied Sciences, or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Reservoir Engineer in the oil and gas industry; 15+ years preferred
  • Significant experience with numerical reservoir simulation, including Eclipse or equivalent software
  • Proven expertise in history matching, forecasting, field development planning, and reservoir monitoring
  • Strong knowledge of mature field redevelopment, waterflood operations, and EOR methods
  • Expertise in decline analysis, resource evaluation, PRMS classification, and booking
  • Experience in uncertainty analysis and risk assessment
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
