Job summary

A leading global consulting and engineering firm is seeking a Senior Pipelines Engineer to join their team in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience in offshore/onshore Oil and Gas projects. Job description

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipelines Engineer to join our team in Qatar. In this role you will collaborate with designers and engineers, supporting the group’s objectives across major FEED projects.

The Role

In this role, you will supervise pipeline engineers and designers to translate limited information from the Concept Selection Report and/or Basis for Design into project specifications and detailed design.

  • Direct and supervise a team of relevant discipline engineers and designers
  • Provide expertise and ensure the application of correct standards in all preFEED/FEED/EPC deliverables for Oil and Gas processing, production, export, and carbon capture projects
  • Supervise the work of relevant discipline engineers and superintendents, ensuring quality, standards, and cost‑effective solutions
  • Fully understand the company HSE policy, procedures, regulations, and objectives as they relate to your area of responsibility
  • Ensure work under your control is performed safely and environmentally soundly
  • Review design work carried out by third parties (vendors) and participate in HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, reliability studies, and Safety and Facilities Technical Audits
  • Establish actual capacities/capabilities of existing field facilities and pipelines to identify bottlenecks and optimization scope
  • Identify potential applications for new technology
  • Develop local staff to fulfill engineering roles
  • Know environmental aspects (ISO14001) of oil and gas projects design
  • Know safety aspects of design in relation to the project cycle (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, HAZAN, IPF classification, QRA, reliability studies, Fire and Gas mapping, risk analysis)
  • Conduct life cycle cost analysis
  • Prepare RFQ technical packages for pipeline-related scopes
  • Prepare engineering, construction, and material estimation, scheduling, resource planning, and update capacity planning biannually
  • Provide first‑class engineering in risers, subsea pipelines, landfalls, subsea manifolds, piping design, and onshore/subsea pipeline fields
  • Be familiar with working with construction engineers and installation schemes

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the offshore/onshore Oil and Gas/Petrochemical/Marine industry
  • At least five years of experience in a similar position for international major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical/Marine projects, including a minimum of three years in an engineer’s or contractor’s organization
  • Experience using ASME, API, ISO, DNV, and Shell DEP codes and standards in pipeline design and construction
  • Preferred experience with pipeline software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, MathCad, CAESAR II, Abacus, and ESRI/GIS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
