About the Role

We are seeking Senior Lecturers / Lecturers in Computer Science to teach, mentor, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our computing programmes. The role requires both academic and professional engagement, fostering student success and advancing the university’s strategic goals.

Faculty joining at this stage will be part of a rapidly developing academic community with opportunities to progress to senior academic and leadership roles (e.g., Programme Leader, Associate Dean, or Dean), depending on performance and institutional contribution.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and assess undergraduate modules in computer science, software engineering, and related areas.
  • Develop and update teaching materials in line with current academic and industry developments.
  • Contribute to the design, validation, and enhancement of academic programmes.
  • Prepare and moderate assessments in accordance with LJMU academic regulations and assessment frameworks.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and provide academic mentoring to students.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities aligned with the university’s strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and advisory boards to enhance programme relevance.
  • Contribute to the delivery of continuing professional development (CPD) and short courses.
  • Participate in academic committees, departmental meetings, and institutional initiatives.
  • Commit to continuous professional development and support the university’s growth and quality enhancement strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: A PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A proven experience in teaching and research at the University level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Evidence of commitment to high‑quality teaching, learning, and student success.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Desirable: A track record of scholarly research and peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Experience in curriculum design, module leadership, and quality assurance.
  • Experience supervising research projects at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
  • Engagement in consultancy, innovation, or applied industry projects.
