Job summary

Malomatia is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead AIX and Linux administration with Storage, SAN, and Azure cloud responsibilities. You will manage IBM AIX systems, GPFS, and PowerVM, while coordinating DR and security initiatives.

The role requires deep Unix experience, strong certification background, and hands-on work with VIO, HMC, and virtualization technologies. Qatar-based operations with on-site engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience: 12 years in Unix System administration.
• Bachelors in Engineering in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Must have RHCE and Azure related certifications; ITIL is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with AIX, Linux, PowerVM, VIO, GPFS, SAN storage, and virtualization.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery, mksysb, and LPAR cloning standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain infrastructure software: GPFS, PowerHA, AIX 7.1+, VIOS, PowerVM.
• Install and manage IBM AIX systems; patch AIX/Linux environments.
• Support L3 on AIX/Servers/VIO; participate in on-call rotation.
• Monitor events, discuss incidents in ServiceNow; problem ownership.
• Manage VIO, HMC; perform system recovery and DR planning.
• Configure and maintain LPARs; maintain UNIX system integrity.
• Ensure security policies, access controls, and data protection.

Job description

The primary objective of a Senior Engineer specializing in AIX and Linux, along with Storage and Cloud System Administration for the client to ensure the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of their IT infrastructure. This role is crucial for supporting the Client Infrastructure services, ensuring seamless operation, data integrity, and optimal performance of systems critical to their functions.

Responsibilities

Maintain infrastructure software (GPFS, PowerHA, AIX 7.1, and later, VIOS, PowerVM).
Responsible for installing and managing IBM AIX systems.
AIX and Linux Patching.
Support day to day L3 calls on AIX/ Servers / VIO Servers issue.
Requires participation in an on-call rotation
Take problem resolution ownership and facilitate technical bridge during operational disruption in service or service outages
Monitor events, customer support calls in the call tracking system, return calls from customers, enter new incidents or requests into ServiceNow
Experience in File Systems, Processes, Performance tuning and troubleshooting
Manage VIO, Hardware Management Console
Experience in system recovery using mksysb image and Disaster Recovery
Experience in PowerVM of virtualization services like Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA), NPIV configuration, virtual SCSI services to multiple VIO servers/client partitions
Strong Redhat Linux System administration experience
Strong understanding of P9 pSeries hardware architectures
Maintain and upgrade the UNIX system software on all UNIX based midrange systems to ensure operating system integrity and a high degree of system availability
Strong understanding and awareness of AIX and Redhat Linux system security
Establish LPAR cloning standard operating procedures and create LPAR profiles
Install, configure and establish the plan to maintain software on the LPARs that is required by the data center
Develop and present mitigation strategy recommendations to the client to address security findings
Identify problem resolution and coordinate implementation of solution with client management and other impacted technical support teams
Design, configure, and maintain LPARs required to support various non- production and production components
Extensive Knowledge in supporting SAN environments
Storage Area Network (SAN) configuration and administration.
Understanding of SAN architecture and configuration best practices. LUN masking, fiber specs, switch specifications, SAN security/Port Zoning, core-to-end, n-tier, etc)
Experience on IBM storage, SVC, HP 3PAR and SAN Switch administration and configuration.
Expertise on IBM Storage technologies SVC, FS7200, FS900, V7000.
Expertise on SAN Products Brocade Switches
Extensive knowledge and experience with various storage replication software, SAN switches, and storage management software/hardware.
Experience in Azure cloud environment to Deploy, manage, and monitor virtual machines (VMs), networks, and storage solutions within Azure.
Ensure optimal allocation of resources to meet performance requirements and cost efficiency.
Regularly apply patches and updates to Azure services and infrastructure.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security policies and procedures, including network security, access controls, and data protection
Hands-on experience in deploying, configuring, and managing Trend Micro security solutions, such as:
Trend Micro Apex One, Deep Security, or Workload Security (DS Agent)
Policy configuration, agent deployment, and update management
Log analysis, threat detection, and remediation of malware or vulnerabilities

Educational Qualification:
A Bachelors in Engineering in Computer Science or Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience.

Primarily Skills and Experiences:
Manage and administrate all Linux and Unix infrastructure services.
Maintain updated patch management process and assure all infrastructure component are patched.
Monitor system logs and activity on all Linux and Unix environment.
Perform regular firmware assessment and upgrade.
Coordinate with 3rd party suppliers/vendors the replacement of defective hardware on clients and servers as necessary.
Update software and hardware inventory and documents.
Provide scripts to automate regular tasks and jobs.
