Job summary

A leading accounting firm in Qatar is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in accordance with international standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, integrity, and bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and experience in governmental or multinational settings are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience for Associate level and 5 years for Senior level.
  • Relevant experience in a governmental finance department or multinational company in Qatar preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic is preferred.

Job Description – Senior Accountant / Associate Accountant

We are seeking highly skilled accounting professionals. The role involves executing comprehensive financial planning, budgeting, costing, financial accounting, and reporting activities in accordance with international standards. Candidates must demonstrate strong integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to high-quality financial governance.

Depending on experience, candidates will be placed at the Associate or Senior level.

Key Responsibilities
1. Planning and Budgeting
  • Manage, prepare, and execute all planning, forecasting, and budgeting cycles.
  • Process and validate budget‑related transactions.
  • Support the development of annual and multi‑year financial plans.
2. Cost Management and Effectiveness
  • Review, assess, and maintain accurate costing standards and models.
  • Ensure proper controls, documentation, and periodic costing updates.
  • Prepare cost‑related reports, analysis, and insights to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain and monitor health insurance and medical insurance costing records. (Senior level: extensive expertise required)
3. Financial Accounting and General Ledger
  • Manage and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and other private or general‑purpose reports.
  • Conduct financial data analysis and develop ad‑hoc reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with IPSAS accrual accounting principles.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
  • Associate level: Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Senior level: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant work experience in a Finance Department of a governmental entity or a multinational company within Qatar is preferred.
Technical Expertise
  • Planning, budgeting, forecasting
  • Cost management (mandatory for Senior; preferred for Associate)
  • Financial accounting and reporting
  • IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) accrual implementation
  • Extensive knowledge of the full finance function and its processes.
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP (mandatory).
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel (pivot tables, modeling, analysis).
Sector Experience
  • Experience in healthcare and medical insurance costing is required for Senior level and a strong advantage for Associate level.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Language Skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic is preferred.
Competencies
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced government environment with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and report‑writing skills in both English and Arabic.
