Job Overview

This is regarding a long term contract 2 to 4 years. Due to visa limitations, applications will not be accepted if your nationality is from Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, Israel, Congo, Afghanistan, or Libya. Exception: if you are already a resident inside Qatar with a valid QID, sponsorship transfer is possible. If you have a valid QID and are a Qatar resident, press NO when asked. We are looking to hire a QC Inspector for a national oil and gas operator in Doha. Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position; experience in GCC is required. English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the elements of the client’s management system applicable to your function.
  • Ensure your safety and the safety of others who may be affected by the client’s business whether the activity is under your direct control and proactively participate in all safety matters affecting the construction of the project.
  • Prevent pollution to the environment in the project.
  • Co‑ordinate the inspection and test requirements on behalf of the client.
  • Undertake familiarisation with project and discipline‑specific inspection documentation to ensure an understanding of the contract requirements.
  • Familiar with international codes, standards and regulations (e.g. QCS, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure that the documentation generated by the inspections, tests, surveillance and surveys meet the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, ITPs and project requirements.
  • Complete relevant forms and prepare reports on inspections and tests undertaken for inclusion in and maintenance of inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with the contractor, third parties and end users at your level.
  • Ensure that all equipment used for measuring and testing is calibrated and such records are available.
  • Assist construction personnel in developing the required quality documentation including method statements, work procedures, inspection and test plans and inspection and test records.
  • Assist construction personnel to identify problems and potential or actual nonconformances and to assist in proposing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with other field supervisors and contractors to be aware of planned and completed construction works to ensure civil tests are planned and performed.
  • Assist the quality engineer to inspect and review quality documents about concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, steel structure erection, block works, soil & excavation and material‑receiving activities.
  • Monitor contractors’ concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, steel structure erection, block works, soil & excavation and material‑receiving quality‑procedures implementation and QA/QC activities.
  • Ensure all civil activities are performed according to project requirements and that tests and reports are prepared, approved and included in documentation packages.
  • Witness site & laboratory tests related to civil activities.
  • Monitor that materials and equipment are used in accordance with specifications.
  • Carry out random checks on receiving‑inspection of certified batch plants, mixers, lifting gears, etc.
  • Check delivery documents against purchase orders, specifications and material certificates.
  • Reject any material not meeting specifications or not bearing an authentic material certificate.
  • Carry out random dimensional checks on materials.
  • Follow‑up on corrective actions to close out non‑conformances.
  • Monitor trends of non‑compliance to client requirements and feedback on the status of the contractor’s performance.
  • Initiate surveillance / NCRs for QC engineer approval.
Required Qualifications
  • Civil / Structural / Architecture degree and / or diploma with experience in quality control in a multidiscipline construction environment.
  • Preferably having formal training in QC and membership with a recognised charted or other professional institution.
  • 10 years experience in a similar position; experience in GCC is desirable.
  • Sound working knowledge of QC aspects and various testing requirements related to major oil & gas, tank farm, pipeline and petrochemical construction projects (related to the job).
  • Ability to work well with contractors, personnel and colleagues at all levels in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
