Job description
QA/QC Lead

Location: Qatar

We are seeking a QA/QC Lead to oversee and manage all quality assurance and quality control activities for onshore and offshore engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and repair projects. This role ensures compliance with codes, standards, specifications, and company policies while leading the QA/QC team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the QA/QC team, including inspectors, contracted engineers, and NDT technicians, ensuring all activities comply with procedures, standards, and project requirements.
  • Plan and oversee metallurgical failure analyses, reviewing results, and providing technical recommendations.
  • Manage QA/QC activities for procurement of materials and equipment, including reviewing purchase requisitions, technical bids, and inspection of received items.
  • Review, approve, and implement repair instructions, welding procedures, and QA/QC reports generated by the team.
  • Develop and approve welding procedures and testing protocols, including PWHT, NDT, and pressure testing.
  • Provide QA/QC input during asset and shutdown meetings, lessons learned sessions, failure investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Review scopes of work for maintenance contracts, evaluate contractor submissions, and ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements during execution.
  • Conduct technical audits of suppliers and contractors’ quality management systems and prepare audit reports.
  • Plan and ensure timely inspection and certification of gas cylinders, portable tanks, and lifting equipment in line with QA/QC KPIs.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to junior QA/QC staff and liaise with key project stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Professional certifications in welding, NDT, or inspection.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in QA/QC activities within the oil and gas industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes for pressure vessels, tanks, piping fabrication, welding, NDT, and auditing.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literate with data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance and technical support to the QA/QC team and coordinate with key stakeholders.
