Job description

Responsible for the identification, planning, design, and execution of engineering specifications related to structural, electrical, piping, and commissioning systems (as assigned) for ship repair, offshore, and new building projects throughout the project execution cycle.

Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities :

  1. Handle engineering assignments related to structural, electrical, piping, and commissioning systems in ship repair, conversion, new build, and offshore projects.
  2. Ensure engineering work complies with Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures, and Standards, and implement daily operations in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  3. Identify, select, and design various engineering systems for assigned projects; verify calculations as required.
  4. Coordinate with trades such as piping, structural, electrical, etc., and project managers to ensure work meets client specifications and class requirements.
  5. Supervise and monitor piping layout, structural work, and mechanical systems on main and auxiliary engines, thrusters, etc.
  6. Identify, select, and prepare specifications for technical procurements and sourcing.
  7. Maintain and update the client-supplied engineering drawing register, record sample drawings issued by the client, and schedule for projects.
  8. Supervise and update the yard engineering deliverables list and schedule; submit weekly and monthly progress reports.
  9. Prepare and submit engineering designs, method statements, and procedures aligned with client requirements; ensure timely submission of reports and progress details.
  10. Ensure timely receipt of client engineering details to facilitate smooth construction; highlight critical document requirements in advance.
  11. Prepare and submit as-built drawings, spare parts and interchangeability records, operation and maintenance manuals, commissioning checklists, and completion documents.
  12. Comply with safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  13. Perform other duties or assignments as directed to support department operations.

Key Result Areas

Interactions and Working Relations

Internal : Production Managers, Commercial, other functional heads, trade foremen, and supervisors.

Purpose : Monitor and coordinate among various trades for project delivery in compliance with engineering protocols.

External : Maintain close contact with external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and complete projects per engineering specifications.

Qualifications, Experience, and Job Skills

Qualifications : Marine, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture Engineering Degree.

Experience : Previous project engineering experience with strong technical skills in piping, structural, mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation fields; at least 5 years in a shipyard environment.

Job-specific competencies include project management, contractual and technical focus, proficiency in engineering drawings and shipbuilding software, client and contract management, HSEQ awareness, stress tolerance, leadership, negotiation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
