Job summary

Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Enforces all applicable International Maritime Conventions, Laws and Guidelines; National Laws; QP Rules and Port Regulations so as to maintain the highest operational standards in port operations as well as onboard all vessels calling at Industrial City Ports in order to minimize risk to the port, its people, assets and the environment.

Experience
  • Previous experience in Port State Control inspections.
  • Minimum 8 years experience as a serving officer on board seagoing vessels and/or as a Marine Surveyor.
Qualifications
  • Master Mariner, Foreign‑Going Certificate or Chief Engineer, Foreign‑Going Certificate or BSc (Maritime Studies) or Degree in Maritime related subjects (Port Management, etc.). Command experience or sailing as Chief Engineer would be an added advantage.
  • Expert working knowledge of Maritime Law and maritime practices. Degree or diploma would be an advantage.
  • Must be fully familiar with International Maritime Conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc.).
  • Must have extensive knowledge of marine legislation, seaport rules, regulations, policies, practices and procedures pertaining to vessel movements and cargo operations activities.
  • Advanced skills in organization, coordination and computer knowledge are essential.
