As we continue to expand and refine this platform, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Technical Operations Manager for the Platform, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform. You will lead a team of technical experts and collaborate with various stakeholders to guarantee seamless operations, system availability, and continuous improvement. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of Qatar nation’s urban infrastructure and services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Platform Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Platform, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Team Leadership: Manage a team of operations and support staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Azure/Google Cloud Management: Monitor and optimize the platform’s performance on Azure/Google Cloud, including cost management and resource allocation.
• Incident Management: Develop and implement incident response procedures, leading the team in resolving critical issues promptly and effectively.
• Security and Compliance: Collaborate with the security and compliance team to enforce best practices and compliance standards, ensuring the platform’s integrity and data security.
• Capacity Planning: Evaluate system performance and resource utilization to plan for future scalability and growth.
• Vendor and Partner Management: Liaise with third-party vendors and technology partners to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of the platform.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Standards: Support adoption of ITIL and service management best practices
• Budget Management: Manage the operations budget, including forecasting and expenditure tracking.
• Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on platform performance and operational metrics.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in technical operations management, preferably in cloud-based environments, with a strong background in Azure/Google Cloud services.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Deep understanding of cloud computing, infrastructure as code (IaC), and DevOps principles.
• Strong knowledge of security best practices, compliance, and risk management.
• Proficiency in incident response, problem resolution, and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Certified: Professional Cloud Architect) preferred
• Strong understanding of technical concepts, architectures, and tools related to the smart city platform space, as well as experience with cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform etc.
• Ability to analyze complex technical solutions and data, identify trends and insights, and make informed decisions.
• Ability to identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies, as well as troubleshoot issues that arise during the platform operations.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, build strong relationships with engineering teams, and collaborate effectively with solution architects, project managers, and the business team.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities, develop project plans, and coordinate resources to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Ability to think strategically about the smart city platform space and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
• Willing to continuously learn and stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, as well as seek out new opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Relevant certifications, such as ITIL, are a plus.
