International Organization for Migration (IOM) Doha office seeks a counsellor to organize psychoeducation, support groups and individual counselling sessions under the supervision of the Head of Office and Programme Manager (MHPSS).

The role requires a university degree in counselling psychology or related field with relevant experience, or a strong mix of education and experience from a humanitarian context. Fluency in English is required; Dari/Farsi/Pashto knowledge is a plus.

Qualificações

  • Education requirement: uni degree in counselling psychology or related field with 3 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in a Mental Health Counselling Unit or similar and with at-risk community members.
  • Experience liaising with governmental/diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, in international organizations or government/non-government settings.

Responsabilidades

  • Organize problem- and emotion-based psychoeducation, support groups and individual counselling sessions.
  • Supervise and conduct counselling activities under Head of Office and Programme Manager (MHPSS).
  • Coordinate with authorities and stakeholders to support mental health initiatives in emergencies.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office (CAS) and direct supervision of Programme Manager (MHPSS), the incumbent will be responsible for organizing problem and emotion-based psychoeducation, support groups and individual counselling sessions and performing the following functions and responsibilities:

EDUCATION
  • University or Bachelor’s Degree in counselling psychology, or any other relevant field with three years of relevant professional experience from an accredited academic institution.
  • High school degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
  • Proven work experience in a Mental Health Counselling Unit or similar.
  • Experience working with at-risk community members.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government, or government institutions/organization.
SKILLS
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development, and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.
Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge in Dari/Farsi/Pashto is an advantage.
