Mechanical Technician

Responsible for assisting with the repairs, adjustments, and ongoing/preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, systems, or machinery. Areas of specialization may include electrical, mechanical, vacuum, motors, hydraulic, fuels, gasoline, diesel, refrigeration, and all other types of equipment. May assist with maintenance for electrical, painting, HVAC and/or carpentry, meters, gauges, switches, valves, pumps, plumbing fixtures, plasters, brick, and woodwork. Build sheds and other outbuildings. Conduct periodic inspections to determine maintenance work required. Maintains all tools, measuring instruments, and equipment necessary to perform work. Typically requires working knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through formal training or work experience. Works under moderate supervision in straightforward situations, assesses each using standard procedures and makes sound decisions. Work is typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.
