Job summary

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar is seeking a Biomedical Laboratory Assistant to support routine biomedical experiments and study activities under PI guidance. Responsibilities include preparing materials, running basic tests, maintaining logs, and ensuring biosafety compliance in a collaborative setting at Education City, Doha.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences and up to 3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences, or related field.
• Up to 3 years of relevant experience; healthcare or biomedical research setting desirable.
• Basic knowledge of research experiments, laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
• Ability to follow established experimental procedures and organize research data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepares materials, cell culture media and samples and assists with routine experiments under supervision.
• Sets up and operates laboratory instruments and reports issues for troubleshooting.
• Follows biosafety, aseptic technique and waste-handling procedures during work.
• Maintains records, logs and summary reports for experiments, including graphs and calculations.
• Assists with data analysis, process documentation, and lab SOP updates.
• Receives, labels and stores lab supplies with inventory logs.
• Assists with approved animal studies under supervision where applicable.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The position supports laboratory research by performing routine experiments and assisting with study activities under the guidance of Principal Investigator (PI).

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares materials, cell culture media and experimental samples, and assists with cell culture preparation and routine biomedical laboratory experiments under supervision.
• Sets up and operates laboratory instruments and experimental systems, performs routine checks, and reports technical or experimental issues for troubleshooting.
• Follows approved laboratory safety, biosafety, aseptic technique and waste-handling procedures during experimental work.
• Participates in ongoing experiments and maintains detailed records, logs and summary reports for all experiments, including graphs, scientific calculations and statistical charting.
• Assists with basic data analysis, process documentation, and lab-related SOP updates.
• Receives, labels and stores lab supplies and equipment, maintaining material receipts and logs for inventory control.
• Assists with approved animal studies, including animal handling, sample collection and experimental procedures, under appropriate supervision, where applicable.
• Follows laboratory safety, quality control and applicable research compliance requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences, or a related field, with up to 3 years of relevant experience.

Prior experience in a healthcare or biomedical research setting is desirable.

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation (QF). The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at the university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated Six-Year Medical Program that incorporates pre-medical and medical studies and leads to the Cornell University M.D. degree.
