Job summary

A leading consultancy firm in Qatar is seeking an experienced professional to lead industrial hygiene efforts. The role includes managing projects related to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), conducting exposure assessments, and collaborating with engineering teams. The ideal candidate will hold an engineering or science degree and possess at least five years of industry experience, particularly in Oil & Gas. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential, alongside familiarity with monitoring tools.

Job description
Accountabilities
  • Lead the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) project.
  • Plan and execute workplace exposure assessments relating to chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Support the Industrial Hygiene (IH) team in risk prevention, enhancement of control measures, and implementation of an integrated IH risk management strategy.
  • Train and mentor Associate/Developée Industrial Hygiene Engineers to progress in their responsibilities.
Key Activities
  • Evaluate the control of hazardous substances across operations.
  • Review current practices and recommend improvements for measuring and reporting hazardous substances such as BTEX and H₂S at production and offloading sites.
  • Conduct hazardous substance measurement surveys at offshore storage and offloading locations.
  • Review and update Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessment Files (IHRAF) using qualitative and quantitative monitoring data.
  • Develop IHRAF documentation for head office facilities.
  • Perform noise surveys, noise dosimetry, and heat stress inspections.
  • Deliver awareness campaigns related to hazardous substances.
  • Train and support Associate/Developée Industrial Hygiene Engineers.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments as required by daily activities.
  • Carry out Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments for office and accommodation facilities.
  • Lead vibration risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist, Engineering degree, or Bachelor’s degree in a Science discipline.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in industrial hygiene assessment and/or risk management, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and offshore operational environments.
  • Self‑motivated, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English and ability to produce high-quality written reports.
  • Experience with photoionization detectors (PID), gas chromatograph monitoring, and a solid understanding of gas detection methods, detector limitations, and sensor poisoning.
  • Familiarity with Class 1 sound level meters and WBGT meters.
  • Medically fit for offshore work in high-temperature conditions.
