Job Overview

The Mechanical Fitter (Plant & Maintenance Department) will be responsible for the maintenance repair and installation of mechanical systems and equipment within the shipyards plant and industrial facilities. The role includes diagnosing mechanical issues performing routine inspections ensuring preventive maintenance and maintaining the reliability and efficiency of plant machinery and tools. The candidate should have experience in mechanical fitting alignment and overhauling of industrial equipment.

Job Role & Responsibilities
  • Perform installation maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment within the Plant & Maintenance department.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps compressors gearboxes and rotating equipment.
  • Inspect mechanical systems to detect malfunctions or wear and perform necessary adjustments or part replacements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings diagrams and machine manuals for proper assembly and alignment.
  • Conduct dismantling and reassembly of machinery during repair and overhaul work.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely efficiently and in accordance with company standards.
  • Support in troubleshooting mechanical failures to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work spare parts used and repairs completed.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other departments for planned maintenance activities.
  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 36 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a Plant & Maintenance department within industrial or shipyard environments.
  • Gulf experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of industrial machinery such as pumps turbines compressors conveyors and hydraulic systems.
Required Skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems used in plant and industrial facilities.
  • Ability to diagnose repair and maintain a variety of mechanical and rotating equipment.
  • Skilled in mechanical alignment fitting and assembly techniques.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers dial indicators).
  • Sound understanding of preventive maintenance systems and practices.
  • Strong focus on safety compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team under minimal supervision.
  • Basic English communication required; Arabic is an advantage.
