Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy machinery and construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, graders, and compactors. The role ensures all equipment operates safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance and inspection of heavy equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriage components.
  • Conduct functional testing and calibration after repairs to confirm performance standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance reports.
  • Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance supervisor and operations team for scheduling equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop area and adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend technical improvements or upgrades.
  • Assist in training junior technicians and promoting a safety-first culture.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years hands‑on experience in maintenance and repair of heavy construction or earthmoving equipment (e.g., CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, Hitachi).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems; Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals; Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (manual and computerised).
  • Language: Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
  • Licenses: Valid Qatar or GCC driving license (preferable).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in outdoor field environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Time management and attention to detail.
