Job summary

Al Jazeera seeks a Head of Planning and Scheduling to lead Strategic Content Planning within the Al Jazeera 360 Content Strategy division. This role develops a comprehensive content vision, identifies gaps, and organizes publishing schedules across platforms.

Responsibilities include creating short-, medium-, and long-term plans, coordinating with programs, localization, marketing, and technology, and driving analytics to refine the platform’s content roadmap and presentation.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in media/journalism/communication/business administration or a related field is required.
• A master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in content planning/scheduling/editorial management at digital platforms OTT online streaming or major broadcast media networks including at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Strategic content planning: develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term content strategies in coordination with the Content Strategy Department; identify thematic priorities and gaps.
• Publishing and scheduling: prepare and oversee publishing schedules and content launch plans; direct content display and homepage highlighting decisions.
• Coordination and integration: align content delivery with Programs, Docs/Docs, Localization, Marketing, and Tech teams; ensure metadata localization alignment.
• Performance monitoring and analytics: use audience data and analytics to evaluate performance and improve content placement and roadmap.

This role leads the Strategic Content Planning department within Al Jazeera 360 s Content Strategy division Responsibilities include leading the strategic and operational planning of the platform s content developing a comprehensive content vision identifying gaps in topics and genres determining content acquisition needs and organizing schedules for publishing showcasing and highlighting content on the platform The incumbent ensures

Strategic content planning and alignment

• Developing and implementing short medium and long-term content strategies and plans in close coordination with the Content Strategy Department
• Identifying thematic priorities monitoring coverage gaps and assessing the lack of content types within the platform s original productions
• Proposing areas for content acquisition and priorities for obtaining materials that cannot be produced internally

Publishing and scheduling

• Preparing managing and overseeing comprehensive publishing schedules content launch schedules and plans for its release on the platform
• Directing and adopting mechanisms for structuring selecting organizing and highlighting content on the platform including the homepage content display rows display contexts and promotional positions
• Making final decisions regarding content posting and display schedules on the platform

Coordination and integration between departments

• Coordinating content delivery and release dates with the Programs Documentaries and Docudrama departments
• Coordination with the Content Localization Department to ensure that metadata text formulation and localization work are aligned with the platform s overall strategy
• Collaborating with audience engagement marketing and promotion teams to align promotional campaigns and highlight special events with content release schedules
• Working with the media materials management to coordinate the use of the archive and prepare visual material packages
• Coordination with product and technology teams to meet content display requirements on the platform and technical requirements
• Ensuring integration and alignment with other planning and content acquisition units in Al Jazeera channels and its digital platforms

Performance monitoring and analytics application

• Utilize performance reports data and analytics provided by the audience and data analysis department to evaluate content performance identify consumption trends and improve its placement on the platform
• Transforming data analysis results and audience indicators into practical scheduling and planning decisions ensuring that content maps respond to audience behavior and platform objectives
• Monitoring media content consumption trends and the competitive landscape and utilizing analytical inputs to continuously update and improve the short medium and long-term content planning roadmap

Department leadership

• Leading guiding and developing the capabilities of the planning and scheduling team members
