Job summary

A leading energy company in Qatar seeks a candidate to manage the development and maintenance of engineering standards and codes for Onshore/Offshore facilities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 18 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in standardization management. An engineering degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering is required. This role involves the implementation of quality assurance systems and ensuring compliance with corporate policies.

Job description

Primary Purpose of the Job

To manage development, evaluation, sourcing, implementation and maintenance of engineering and technical standards & codes applicable for engineering & design of Onshore/Offshore and associated Infrastructure facilities development, in line with the technical, project and business objectives for Corporate-wide access and use. To manage the development and implementation of the Technical Assurance and QHSE Management Systems of the Engineering Services department and assure that the systems are implemented in compliance with corporate policies, department mandates, standards and applicable laws and regulations. To manage the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance and related Management Systems of the Preferred Manufacturers (PML).

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 18 years’ experience in the oil/gas or petrochemical industry in standardization and assurance management of engineering projects of multi-disciplined engineering work. Recent 5 years’ experience should be in key supervisory role of managing a team working on standardization and assurance.
• Exposure on the standardization and evaluation of company technical standards and engineering practices is essential and should be conversant with sourcing, contracting and subscribing the IOC/National/International Standards.
• Experience as lead auditor, possessing skills for identifying, planning, organizing technical & quality assurance of major and critical O&G projects. The candidate shall be familiar with development of technical and quality management systems.
• Efficiently lead and manage all activities to develop, source and maintain engineering and technical standards & codes, specifications, regional, National and International standards. Responsible for managing seamless and smooth access of standards to corporate-wise users through a Technical Standards System (TSS). Establish and manage online systems such that latest applicable standards are available for use and implementation of industry best technical specification
• Manage Directorate Technical Standards System (TSS) that makes on-line availability of Engineering Standards (Shell DEPs and others), conceptualize engineering standards development systems in alignment with departmental business objectives and QatarEnergy Engineering requirements, associate with Corporate Standardization Steering Committee (CSSC)

Educational Qualifications

• Engineering graduate in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering from an internationally recognized University.
• Membership of a recognized professional International and/or Regional Standard Development Organizations (SDOs) and ISO 9000 Lead Auditor qualifications preferable.
