Job description

Our clients, based in Qatar are looking for a professional Governess to 3 children aged 1, 9 & 10.

The family are seeking an experienced candidate who is accustomed to working within a formal household environment and is familiar with offering a good level of flexibility to meet the needs of the children’s busy schedules. Due to this, working days and hours will be discussed at interview stage, but days off will be given during the week.

Ideally the candidate will be warm, emotive, and caring towards the children. Someone who is confident, calm, and clear thinking when under pressure, but most importantly a good role model. Being able to set firm boundaries, encouraging a strong work ethic and placing an importance upon education and the children's progress.

Duties will include but are not limited to :

• Supervise / direct the children’s nannies on their daily duties and the children’s needs
• Liaising with the tutors and school staff to ensure the children’s progress is being fully tracked
• Overseeing and guiding college preparation and applications
• Organising the children’s timetables
• Helping the children with their homework which will include languages, Mathematics and other staple subjects
• Making sure that the children keep a good routine
• Managing the children’s health including attending doctor visits, dispensing medication and keeping the medicines organised and well stocked
• Liaising with other members of staff when necessary
• Being resourceful when keeping the children entertained – creating fun with games and entertainment
• Encouraging outdoor play and physical sporting activities
• Ensuring all child related supplies, clothing, stationary and educational materials are checked, well stocked, in good order
• Maintaining cash flow logs
• Administrative duties, along with photo / data management
• Travelling with the children
• Encourage responsible care for and play with their three Chihuahua dogs, including during travel at times
• Being aware of dietary requirements

The family frequently and spend long periods of time on a yacht so require someone to think strategically, making sure that the children are kept creatively active, occupied, and happy. When traveling, you will also be required to take care of their clothing, manage their wardrobes, organise cultural and fun activities.

It is preferred that you possess the following :

• Musical theory knowledge
• Full clean driving licence
• First aid knowledge / training / certificate
• High level of education (experience in a children’s educational setting)
• Comfortable dealing with children / young adults of all age ranges from 1 to 20
• Comfortable working in a household with dogs
