Job summary

Renco S.p.A. is seeking a seasoned Field Service Engineer for on-site support of GE gas turbines and associated compressors. The role involves installation, commissioning, maintenance, and outages across global projects, with emphasis on safety and technical leadership.

You will diagnose complex mechanical and control system issues, lead teams, and deliver detailed field reports while ensuring adherence to HSE protocols and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field; significant field experience may substitute.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as Field Service Engineer or similar with heavy rotating equipment.
• Experience with GE gas turbines and Nuovo Pignone compressors is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance and inspections on GE gas turbines and compressors.
• Diagnose mechanical, fluid and operational issues using manuals, drawings and diagnostic tools; determine root causes and solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to craft labor, sub-contractors, and client personnel during outages.
• Perform borescope inspections, laser alignments, and prepare detailed field service reports.
• Assist outage planning: define scope, tooling, spare parts, and labor estimates.
• Enforce all HSE protocols; lead toolbox talks and JSAs before work begins.
• Act as on-site face of the company; advise customers on operation, maintenance schedules and optimization.

SCOPE OF WORK:
We are currently building a dedicated and long-term Field Service Team for the installation, commissioning, shutdowns, maintenance, and replacement activities of heavy duty gas turbine / aeroderivative gas turbine / centrifugal or reciprocal compressors.
This team will be actively deployed on a continuous basis across our global projects, including the Middle East, Asia, North/Central/South America, and Europe, supporting critical operations in diverse and dynamic environments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and perform on-site installation, commissioning, routine maintenance, and major/minor inspections (e.g., Combustion, Hot Gas Path, and Major outages) on GE gas turbines and compressors;
• Diagnose complex mechanical, fluid, and operational issues. Utilize technical manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools to determine root causes and implement effective solutions;
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to craft labor, sub-contractors, and client personnel during outage execution;
• Perform precision measurements, borescope inspections, and laser alignments. Prepare comprehensive, timely, and highly detailed field service reports, documenting all findings, actions taken, and recommendations for the client;
• Assist in outage planning, including defining scope, determining tooling requirements, identifying spare parts, and estimating labor needs;
• Strictly adhere to, and enforce, all company and customer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols. Lead daily toolbox talks and complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) prior to commencing work;
• Act as the face of Company on site. Advise customers on best practices for equipment operation, maintenance schedules, and performance optimization.

REQUIRED COMPETENCES:

• Proven, hands-on experience with GE Gas Turbines (e.g., Frame 5, 6, 7, 9, or LM series) and/or GE/Nuovo Pignone centrifugal compressors;
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and auxiliary systems related to turbines and compressors;
• Familiarity with GE turbine control systems (e.g., Speedtronic Mark V, VI, VIe) and vibration monitoring systems (e.g., Bently Nevada);
• Strong proficiency with borescope inspection equipment and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Significant, direct field experience may be substituted for formal education);
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer, Technical Advisor, or Millwright working specifically with heavy rotating equipment.
