Job summary

Airswift, a global manpower provider, is sourcing an Engineering Lead (Instr. C2 Recovery) for a long-term contract in Qatar. Based in Ras Laffan, the role starts ASAP and involves 6 days per week work with long hours as required.

Responsibilities include leading I&C activities across projects, ensuring compliance with specs and safety standards, and coordinating with PMT and EPC stakeholders. Strong leadership, offshore/oil & gas experience, and knowledge of SPI/DCS are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 8 years’ engineering experience, incl. 4 years in oil & gas.
  • 1 year supervisory or contractor oversight experience.
  • Knowledge of international O&G standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide I&C engineering activities across projects per specs and safety requirements.
  • Lead work execution with PMT and EPC stakeholders to align design per schedule.
  • Direct contractors to develop execution plans and recovery plans for delays.
  • Interface between vendors and EPC contractors to ensure quality and milestones.
  • Represent I&C engineering in HAZOP/HAZID/SIL/SAFOP reviews.
  • Prepare high-quality documents for FEED and EXECUTE activities.
  • Deliver presentations to discipline Head and PMT for daily activities.
  • Govern compliance with client discipline standards and QA frameworks.

We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source an Engineering Lead (Instr. C2 Recovery). This is a long-term contract role. Please see details below.

Title: Engineering Lead (Instr. C2 Recovery)

Start Date: ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)

Location: Qatar Onshore (Ras Laffan)

Working Schedule: 6 days per week / 8-10 hours per day or as per project requirement

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Provide I&C engineering activities across assigned projects, ensuring all activities comply with approved project specifications, client standards, safety requirements and of I&C engineering design deliverables meet quality and design safety expectations.
  • Lead work execution, ensuring technical alignment and quality with various disciplines stakeholders from both PMT and EPC contractors providing guidance and clear direction to complete I&C design per project specifications in a timely manner
  • Direct contractors to develop robust execution plans and schedules, reviewing progress data (narrative, charts, graphs), change management recommendations and recovery plans to address schedule delay risks and support monthly progress and stewardship reporting.
  • Support multi-discipline activities providing I&C expertise to other disciplines as necessary, in support of completing activities within schedule and making appropriate recommendations to management on I&C issues.
  • Lead the effort to provide technical interface between key vendors and EPC contractors to ensure alignment with quality and execution objectives and overall project delivery milestones.
  • Represent the I&C engineering in all major project assurance and reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, SAFOP etc.
  • Prepares high quality written documents to support FEED and EXECUTE activities and relevant PMS Gate reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver effective oral presentations to support the discipline Head and PMT in day-to-day project activities.
  • Support the Discipline Head in governing client discipline standards and technical assurance frameworks, ensuring effective implementation of standardization activities and compliance oversight of engineering resources across projects.
  • Approve and endorse I&C technical deviations, waivers, and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices with delegated technical authority.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Knowledge and Key Skills
  • 8 years’ experience in Engineering roles, including 4 years in the oil & gas industry, and 1 years’ experience in a supervisory or acting role, or oversight of contractor sub-contractors/service/vendor personnel.
  • Basic knowledge of Hexagon Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
  • Experience in project development studies, FEED & Detailed engineering development.
  • Experience in selection and handling of various Field and Control Room Telecommunication equipment/ packages including DCS/ESD/SCADA/F&G fibre optic and radio communications systems encountered in the oil & gas industry.
  • Experience in engineering coordination with various discipline engineers during FEED & Detailed engineering development and management of such contracts. Experience in commissioning & start-up and troubleshooting of Instrumentation Control and Telecommunication equipment encountered in oil & gas processing facilities.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to his area of expertise.
