Engineering Lead – Electrical
Location: Qatar Onshore – NFW Offplot
Contract Type: MFA, 36 months
Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 5 days/week, 22 days/month
Estimated Start Date: 1st week of February 2026
We are supporting a leading LNG company in Qatar to recruit an Engineering Lead – Electrical for the NFW Offplot project. The role is responsible for leading electrical engineering activities across the project, with a focus on the Onshore Common Lean LNG/LPG Storage and Loading Expansion. The position ensures all electrical design requirements, codes, standards, and practices comply with project.
Reporting and Relationships
- Reports to Head of Electrical Engineering
- No direct reports
- Internal: Interfaces with project teams, PMT, RLIC, and Operations Engineering to resolve electrical issues effectively
- External: Regular contact with EPC Contractors, Subcontractors, Vendors, Specialist Consultants, Kahramaa, and project stakeholders on site
Job Context & Major Challenges
- Based in Doha QELNG office or Ras Laffan Project Site Offices (Field Operations Center)
- Responsible for all technical electrical activities executed by EPC Contractors, vendors, consultants, and sub-contractors
- Challenges include guiding EPC contractors and pre-commissioning/commissioning teams to meet milestones, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, and resolving complex electrical issues with execution and commercial impact
Key Accountabilities
- Demonstrate SHES leadership and promote safety behaviours; actively participate in toolbox talks, task instructions, and site safety walkthroughs
- Ensure electrical engineering activities comply with local regulations, project specifications, and industry standards
- Resolve electrical discipline issues to meet project objectives and expectations
- Ensure approved design recommendations are applied to improve design integrity and reduce inefficiencies
- Steward Contractors’ electrical design and execution activities, verify resources, personnel competency, and use of approved technical tools
- Coordinate and analyse discipline issues for resolution and provide input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement, and quality teams
- Support commissioning and system completion activities and advise management on electrical discipline matters
- Track and report lessons learned within area of responsibility
- Monitor Contractor progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience & Knowledge
- 8 years’ experience in engineering roles, including 4 years in Oil & Gas, and at least 1 year in a supervisory/acting role or oversight of contractor/subcontractor/vendor personnel
- Experience with Oil & Gas companies, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service companies
- Experience managing contractors and third-party vendors across multiple project phases, ideally from FEED to Start-up
- Knowledge of technology adoption and continuous improvement practices
- Experience with sour service gas and LNG facilities (Onshore)
- Experience in High Voltage transmission and Medium Voltage distribution
- Brownfield engineering and execution knowledge
Technical & Business Skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong analytical, organisational, coordination, and planning skills
- Good communication skills and ability to interface at all levels
- Conflict resolution, problem-solving, creative thinking, influencing, and empathy skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Deep knowledge of industry codes, standards, and practices for the electrical discipline
