Job summary

Aspetar seeks a Head of Research to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Research and Scientific Support Department. Working with the Executive Director, you will guide research objectives and collaborations.

Mentor staff, oversee trials, ensure ethics and safety, and manage budgets while building international partnerships.

The role requires a PhD or higher in Sports Science or related fields, 12–15 years’ experience, and strong English; Arabic is a definite advantage.

Qualifications

PhD or higher in Sports Science or related field.
12–15 years of experience with 4–7 in a similar position.
Proven ability to identify research topics and oversee trials.
Strong international research reputation in Sports Medicine.

Responsibilities

Identify and develop pertinent research areas aligned with hospital capabilities.
Ensure compliance with Qatar Health Research laws, ethics, and safety.
Supervise progress of research projects and milestones.
Create and maintain a research project progress record.
Supervise and support the research staff of the department.
Organise and chair team meetings.
Contribute to staff education and dissemination of findings.
Liaise with project leaders to disseminate research results.
Initiate and manage international research cooperation.
