Job summary

Talent Leaders Inc. is recruiting for a Database Service Delivery Manager who will own the delivery of managed database services across on-premises and cloud platforms in Qatar. The role combines service level accountability with hands-on administration of Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL environments.

You will manage incidents, changes, performance tuning, backups and disaster recovery, coordinate with vendors, and maintain CMDB records. Strong English communication and ITIL knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent.
• 4 to 6 years of hands-on database administration in enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting external clients under SLAs in a managed services environment is preferred.
• Hands-on administration of Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL including installation and patching.
• Experience with SQL Server Always On, WSFC and Failover Clustering.
• Knowledge of Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, patching and troubleshooting.
• Experience running DB servers on Azure and OCI with IAM policies.
• Knowledge of RDBMS fundamentals and Oracle ATP.
• Windows Server and Linux familiarity; ITIL incident/change management understanding.
• Certifications in Oracle, Microsoft or OCI are advantageous.
• Clear communicator with clients; strong English skills.

Responsibilities

Database Service Delivery Manager - Oracle SQL Server

About our client
Our client is a leading IT services provider in Qatar, delivering cloud, infrastructure and managed services to enterprise clients. Talent Leaders is managing this search on a confidential basis, and the client's name will be shared with shortlisted candidates at interview stage.
The role
You will own the delivery of managed database services to the client's customers across on-premises and cloud platforms. The role combines accountability for service levels, incidents, changes and client communication with hands-on administration of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, including high availability, backup and recovery, patching and performance. It sits in the Service Delivery department and reports to the Service Delivery Manager for Cloud and Systems.

Key responsibilities
Service delivery

• Own day-to-day delivery of managed database services for assigned clients, meeting agreed SLAs and KPIs.
• Act as the technical point of contact for clients on database matters, providing clear updates and escalating issues in good time.
• Handle database incidents, problems and service requests through to resolution, including root cause analysis.
• Plan and run database changes and releases through the change management process, and support quality checks and validation.
• Coordinate with Oracle, Microsoft and other vendors on support cases and escalations.
• Keep client solution records accurate in the CMDB and service portals, and contribute to service reporting.
• Document procedures and work instructions for builds, configurations and deployments with the solution architecture team, and share knowledge with junior staff.

Database administration

• Administer Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases, maintaining data integrity, security and availability.
• Install, configure, upgrade and patch database systems, and carry out regular maintenance.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and tune databases and queries.
• Administer SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances, and support Oracle RAC and Grid Infrastructure.
• Maintain databases across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Microsoft Azure, on-premises infrastructure and Exadata Cloud@Customer.
• Manage users, roles and access privileges, and plan storage capacity.
• Run and validate backup and recovery, and support high availability and disaster recovery operations.
• Assist with data migrations, upgrades and database structure changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent.
• 4 to 6 years of hands-on database administration in enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting external clients under SLAs in a managed services, MSP or systems integrator environment is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, including installation, patching and maintenance.
• Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, WSFC and Failover Cluster Instances.
• Working knowledge of Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure and cluster services, including patching and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience running database servers on Azure and OCI, including OCI IAM policies and compute provisioning.
• Good knowledge of RDBMS fundamentals and Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP).
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Linux clustering.
• Working knowledge of ITIL incident, problem and change management. ITIL Foundation is an advantage.
• Experience with Exadata or Exadata Cloud@Customer, and Oracle, Microsoft or OCI certifications, are an advantage.
• Clear communicator with clients. Excellent written and spoken English.
