Employment seeks a Data Compliance & Privacy Consultant to translate complex regulatory obligations into practical client data controls and process requirements. You will collaborate with legal, security, governance and operational teams to assess data-sharing, retention and disposal obligations and to develop remediation trackers.
The role emphasizes practical guidance, evidence-driven compliance, and clear advisory writing while escalating unresolved legal questions to client advisers.
Role Purpose
The Data Compliance & Privacy Consultant helps clients understand and implement the legal, regulatory, policy and control requirements affecting data. The role supports the translation of obligations into practical requirements for collection, classification, access, sharing, retention, analytics, security and disposal. It also helps clients establish evidence, monitoring, exception and remediation practices that demonstrate responsible handling. The consultant works closely with data governance, security, legal, risk, records, architecture and operational teams. The role may conduct assessments, draft control requirements, support privacy and sharing reviews and prepare compliance recommendations, but it does not provide final legal opinions or accept client risk. The objective is to make compliance actionable within data processes and technical delivery while ensuring unresolved legal or regulatory questions are escalated to appropriately authorised client advisers.
Bachelor's degree in law, information systems, cybersecurity, risk, audit or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and directly applicable consulting or implementation experience may be considered.
Typically 4-8 years in data protection, compliance, audit, governance or technology risk. Experience in data protection, privacy, regulatory compliance, information governance, risk or technology compliance. Experience translating obligations into controls, process requirements and evidence expectations. Experience working with legal, security, technology and business stakeholders on sensitive data matters. Exposure to government or regulated‑sector data-sharing and classification requirements is preferred.
