Construction Lead - HVAC

Location: Qatar
Assignment Type: Onshore/Offshore
Onshore/Offshore Allocation: Onshore 20%, Offshore 80%
Assignment Term: 24 months
Target Mobilisation: 9 January 2026
Working Hours/Day: Offshore: 12 hours/day; Onshore: 10 hours/day
Working Days/Week: Offshore: 7 days/week; Onshore: 6 days/week
Working Days/Month: Offshore: 28 days/month; Onshore: 26 days/month
Leave Rotation: 10 weeks on / 2 weeks off

We are seeking a Construction Lead (HVAC) for a major onshore energy project. The role provides Hook-Up and Commissioning (HUC) oversight for HVAC activities and involves working closely with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.

Job Purpose
  • Provide HUC oversight and direction to the main contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with facilities teams, EPC contractor engineers, and operations personnel.
  • Cover EPC workshops, shop inspections, and factory testing as required.
Reporting & Relationships
  • Reports to Head of Construction.
  • Frequent contact with all project disciplines internally.
  • Regular liaison with EPC contractors, associated vendors, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review critical documents and reports generated by contractors and attend workshops/review meetings.
  • Analyse technical proposals, deviations, and new technologies for compliance with project standards and policies.
  • Apply lessons learned and share with other EPC teams.
  • Support the qualification of new suppliers not on the approved vendor list.
  • Assess contractor manpower and provide recommendations to the project team.
  • Support engineering teams to meet milestones, including procurement and required-on-site dates.
  • Witness contractor scope of work and sign off test/check sheets as per project requirements.
  • Verify progress reports for accuracy and participate in quality audits.
  • Act as the HUC focal point offshore to ensure HVAC hook-up and commissioning compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences, Mechanical or relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in construction-related disciplines (installation, fabrication, hook-up, commissioning) within the Oil & Gas industry, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC design standards, specifications, codes, offshore facilities, and discipline construction and operations.
  • Experience with HVAC commissioning, testing and balancing (TAB), fan and air handling unit performance testing, refrigeration system commissioning, and room integrity testing.
  • Knowledge of Fluorinated Gas (F-gas) regulations.
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment brands such as AHI, Carrier, and Wozair.
  • Experience in large‑scale EPC contracts, offshore facilities, or heavy construction projects.

  • Strong organisational, leadership, planning, coordination, and technical judgment skills.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, high workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Problem‑solving, risk analysis, and contingency planning skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
