Commissioning Lead – Electrical

Location: Qatar Onshore – Ras Laffan

Contract Type: MFA, 36 months

Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week, 26 days/month

Estimated Start Date: ASAP

Estimated End Date: December 2027+

We are supporting a leading LNG company in Qatar to recruit a Commissioning Lead – Electrical for the NFXP Onshore project. The role is responsible for overseeing Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning activities for electrical and control systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution in line with project specifications.

Reporting and Relationships
  • Reports to Head of Commissioning
  • No direct reports
  • Internal: Frequent collaboration with NFXP Onshore Project PMT
  • External: Frequent interaction with EPC Contractor, OEMs, Vendors, Subcontractors, Utilities, and Engineering/Specialist Consultants
Job Context & Major Challenges
  • Ensure all planning and execution of Electrical Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning is achieved by the EPC Contractor and stakeholders in line with project requirements
  • Manage effective interfaces with existing facilities and other EPC projects
  • Major challenges: guiding EPC Contractor teams to deliver milestones, maintaining stakeholder alignment, working safely in SIMOPS and Brownfield areas
Key Accountabilities
  • Provide Electrical Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning expertise and lead safe execution of the scope of work
  • Lead planning and execution, ensuring EPC Contractor meets project milestones
  • Provide field leadership during troubleshooting, testing, and energisation activities including SAT, Loop, and Function Tests
  • Review, develop, and supervise check sheets, procedures, method statements, and work packages
  • Support EPC Contractor coordination with Operations and other disciplines
  • Validate EPC Contractor personnel, tools, and procedures against project requirements
  • Ensure adherence to SHES procedures, participate in toolbox talks and walkdowns
  • Prepare reports and validate testing and commissioning results
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering
Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 8 years’ commissioning experience in Oil & Gas, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role
  • Experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer with broad commissioning planning and execution experience for LNG or Oil & Gas facilities
  • Knowledge of System Completion Process, technical and contractual walkdowns, and PSSR procedures
  • Experience in systemisation including check sheet development, completions database management, and method statements
  • Experience with High and Low Voltage systems (132kV to low voltage), Transformers, Switchboards, Lighting, Earthing, Lightning Protection, UPS, Battery Chargers, Heating Systems, Cathodic Protection, and compressors with control systems
  • Experience in sub-station Pre-commissioning and commissioning, brownfield and greenfield, including shutdowns and tie-ins
  • Familiarity with international electrical standards and best practices
Technical & Business Skills

  • Good communication and ability to interface at all levels
  • Strong team leadership, integrity, interpersonal understanding, and self-confidence
