Job summary

A leading engineering company in Qatar is seeking a Civil & Steel Structure Engineer. The role involves surveillance of contractor performance, inspection of civil works, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Ideal candidates will have at least 10 years of experience in large international projects and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Proficiency in English and relevant computer applications is essential.

Qualifications

• 10 years relevant experience in large size civil works with large international onshore petrochemical, oil, and gas projects.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Knowledge of generic computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

Job description

Civil & Steel Structure Engineer

Primary Functions

Surveillance of contractors and sub-contractors, implementation of their quality management systems. Verify compliance with contract documentation and ISO 9000 requirements.

On site inspection of civil, steel structure, buildings, roads, culverts, foundations, construction and testing works to verify their compliance to construction drawings, project specifications and contract documents with regard to quality.

9.8.2. Duties and Responsibilities

9.8.2.1 General

• Participate in quality audits and assessments of civil works as directed
• Review and approval of contractors and sub-contractors Inspection and Test Plans for conformance to specifications, codes and standards and identification of inspection intervention requirements.
• Verify quality control documentation in the form of Inspection and Test Plans, Method Statements and Work Instructions and Inspection Records / Test Certificates are available prior to work commencing.
• Ensure work sequence is planned and controlled via implementation and adherence to Clientapproved Method Statements and Work Instructions.
• Undertake "actual", "witness" and "surveillance" inspection activities of civil construction and testing works at site as required by Inspection and Test Plans to verify product conformity and full compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, codes & standards and project contract documents.
• Sampling and testing of civil works to verify adequacy of construction and inspection methodologies in producing product conforming to engineering drawings, specifications, codes and standards and project contract documents.
• Review and acceptance, via signature, of process and inspection verification documents in the form of Inspection and Test Plans, Inspection Records, Checklists and Test Certificates.
• Monitor work status to determine potential interface or schedule problems which will aid application of preventive measures to negate potential negative affect.
• Ensure company regulations with regard to work safety and environment preservation are maintained.
• Perform similar other related duties as and when assigned by direct supervisor.
• Initiate Nonconformance Reports where quality deficiencies identified are not satisfactorily actioned.
• Produce and submit Daily InspectionReports identifying items inspected, acceptance / rejection rates and Areas of Concern.
