A leading offshore drilling company in Qatar is seeking an Assistant Driller for an offshore jackup rig. This full-time role supports drilling operations, ensures compliance with safety standards, and supervises the drill floor crew. Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant drilling certifications, and at least 5 years of offshore experience. The Assistant Driller (AD) supports the Driller in the safe and efficient operation of drilling activities on an offshore jackup rig. This role ensures adherence to QatarEnergy Shell and ADNOC standards while supervising the drill floor crew during routine and emergency operations.
Assist the Driller in operating top drive drawworks and mud pumps during drilling tripping and casing runs.
Monitor well parameters (ROP SPP torque) and report anomalies.
Conduct pipe handling slips and tong operations under the Drillers supervision.
Enforce QHSE policies (Qatar MME OPITO IADC).
Participate in pre-tour safety meetings and emergency drills (well control fire abandon ship).
Inspect BOP choke manifold and safety equipment (pre-shift checks).
Direct Floormen and Roustabouts in drill floor operations (e.g. making connections handling tubulars).
Train junior crew on rig-specific procedures (e.g. pipe tallying stump height checks).
Maintain rig floor cleanliness and organization (5S standards).
Assist in preventive maintenance (lubrication inspections of drawworks elevators).
Report equipment malfunctions to the Driller / Maintenance team.
Document daily drilling progress (footage drilled mud volumes downtime).
Complete checklists (BOP tests tubular inspections).
Education: High school diploma (minimum); technical certification in drilling preferred.
Experience:
Proficient in drilling calculations (mud weight adjustments pipe displacement).
Basic knowledge of Wellsite Reporting Systems (e.g. WellView).
Ability to interpret drillers console data.
Teamwork: Coordinates seamlessly with Driller and rig crew.
Alertness: Monitors operations for hazards (e.g. stuck pipe kicks).
Initiative: Proactively assists in troubleshooting.
Salary: QAR 12000 to 18000 / month (based on experience).
Overtime: 1.5x base rate for extra hours.
