A leading global technology firm is seeking a Virtualization Engineer based in Kraków, Poland. · Design, implement, and manage enterprise virtualization infrastructure (Windows VM, Linux/unix VM, VMWARE, Nutanix and AIX, Storage, Backup and Archiving).
· Managing CIS Infra services (Systems & virtualization, storage & backup, databases, network & telephony, monitoring & operations).
· Monitor and optimize the performance, availability, and scalability of virtual machines (VMs) and virtualized environments.
· Perform capacity planning, load balancing, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for virtualized systems.
· Manage and maintain virtual networking, storage, and security configurations within the virtualization environment.
· Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to streamline virtualization tasks, including VM provisioning, backups, and performance tuning.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to virtualization infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional IT teams.
· Perform regular upgrades, patches, and maintenance of the virtual infrastructure to ensure security and compliance with industry standards.
· Collaborate with application and database teams to ensure that virtualization infrastructure meets performance and availability requirements for business applications.
· Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions.
· Stay current with emerging virtualization technologies and trends, recommending improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
Education & Experience:
· 3+ years of experience in managing virtualization platforms.
Skills:
· Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM.
· Knowledge of Vmware and/or Nutanix virtualization technologies (e.g. Nutanix)
· Proficiency with virtualization management tools (e.g., vCenter, SCVMM) and automation tools.
· Knowledge of virtual networking concepts (vLANs, vSwitches, NSX) and storage technologies (iSCSI, NFS, SAN).
· Experience with disaster recovery planning, failover clustering, and high availability within a virtualized environment.
· Hands-on experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and orchestration of virtualization tasks.
· Strong understanding of security best practices for virtual environments, including network segmentation, access controls, and patch management.
