Backstory seeks a VP/SVP of Finance to lead FP&A, accounting, and cash for its enterprise SaaS business. You will report to the CEO, manage a lean team, and shape financial strategy while guiding investor communications. It’s a hands-on role focused on planning, forecasting, close, and governance as the company targets growth milestones and prepares for future financing. You’ll partner with leadership to optimize ARR and cash flow.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive finance leadership in a senior role.
• Experience across FP&A, accounting, and treasury in a productized, enterprise SaaS business.
• Fluency in SaaS metrics and links to financial performance (ARR, retention, churn).
• Hands-on ownership of monthly close, GAAP reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.

Responsabilités

• Own the annual budget, scenario modeling, and rolling forecasts for revenue, headcount, opex, and cash.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting with plan-to-actuals and driver analysis.
• Partner with Sales, Customer, Marketing, and Product on investment trade-offs as we scale.
• Prepare board materials and investor reporting; manage routine investor communications.
• Lead pricing strategy, unit economics, and ARR policy definitions.
• Oversee accounting and controllership; ensure timely close and GAAP compliance.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity, banking relationships, and treasury operations.
• Build scalable finance systems, BI, and close processes.
