Zohorecruit is seeking a reliable Video Editing & Content Repurposing VA to support Liz’s podcast and YouTube content. The role focuses on post-production, not publishing, including editing, show notes, and short-form clips.
The ideal candidate will follow Liz's instructions closely, maintain brand consistency, and deliver ready-to-post assets for publication across platforms.
Role: Video Editing & Podcast Content Repurposing Virtual Assistant
Assistance needed: Podcast and social media posts
Liz is an educational consultant, AI Governance Advisor, and a founder. Her work spans responsible AI adoption, human rights, EDI, communications, education, storytelling, content strategy, and institutional risk.
She works with organizations and audiences through consulting, educational projects, workshops, public speaking, podcasts, YouTube content, and other thought-leadership initiatives.
She is currently involved in a major project with a nonprofit in Canada to develop a digital resource hub that consolidates and organizes curriculum related to various human rights issues.
Alongside her consulting and educational work, Liz is building her online presence through podcasting and video content.
Liz is looking for a reliable and conscientious Video Editing & Content Repurposing VA who can take over the time-consuming post-production work for her podcast and YouTube content.
The main purpose of this role is to allow Liz to focus on recording, speaking, consulting, and creating content rather than spending hours editing and preparing each episode for publication.
The editing itself is generally light and straightforward. Liz is not looking for highly complex cinematic editing or extensive video production. She primarily needs someone who can efficiently clean up recordings, follow specific editing instructions, prepare show notes, create short-form content, and return polished, ready-to-post assets.
The ideal VA should have good attention to detail, strong English proficiency, good judgment, and the ability to follow specific instructions accurately.
The VA will be responsible for editing Liz's podcast/video recordings, which are generally approximately 20–30 minutes long.
Typical editing tasks include:
Most episodes will require straightforward editing. Occasionally, Liz may identify a particular section that should be removed because of the content or context.
The VA should therefore be comfortable following detailed editorial instructions and locating specific sections of a recording accurately.
The VA is not expected to independently make major editorial decisions about Liz's content. When Liz provides specific instructions, the VA should follow them carefully.
For each podcast episode, the VA will assist with preparing clear and useful show notes.
Show notes may include:
The show notes do not need to be highly technical or complicated. They should be clear, accurate, well-written, and easy for an audience to scan.
Strong written English is therefore important.
A major responsibility of the role will be turning podcast episodes into short-form content.
The VA will:
The number of short-form clips is flexible and will depend on the episode. Liz's current expectation is approximately two to three clips per episode, rather than a rigid requirement to produce a specific number regardless of the available content.
In addition to the podcast, Liz plans to create shorter YouTube commentary videos that are separate from the podcast.
The VA may assist with:
These videos are intended to be relatively short and straightforward rather than heavily produced long-form videos.
The VA will also assist with creating YouTube thumbnail graphics.
Responsibilities may include:
Graphic design does not need to be highly advanced, but the VA should have enough visual/design ability to create polished and professional thumbnails.
The VA's responsibility is primarily post-production and preparation, not publishing.
Once the content is completed, the VA will send the final files and supporting materials back to Liz so that she can publish them herself.
Content may include:
Liz specifically indicated that she is comfortable doing the actual publishing herself.
The VA should be comfortable sharing completed files through cloud-based file-sharing platforms.
Liz mentioned Dropbox or a similar platform as an acceptable way to receive completed content.
The VA should:
Liz's planned podcast frequency is once per week or, at most, once every two weeks.
At present, however, episodes have been going out less than once a month because the post‑production process has been too labor‑intensive.
One of the primary goals of hiring the VA is therefore to remove this bottleneck and help Liz move toward a more consistent publishing schedule.
The VA may also support Liz as she begins producing more standalone YouTube commentary videos.
Liz currently publishes podcast content on:
The VA will prepare the content for Liz to publish. The VA will not be responsible for publishing the content unless this responsibility is added later.
Liz is not particular about which editing software or tools the VA uses.
The priority is the quality and usability of the final output rather than proficiency with a specific platform.
The VA may use whichever professional editing tools they are most comfortable with, provided the final files meet Liz's requirements.
Potential tools may include video editing, audio editing, graphic design, file‑sharing, and AI‑assisted content tools, but no specific software is mandated by the client at this time.
The VA should be comfortable learning or adapting to new tools when necessary.
Liz specifically values someone who is conscientious.
The ideal VA should be:
Most importantly, the VA should not simply apply their own editing style without considering Liz's instructions. They need to be able to take direction and make precise changes based on Liz's notes.
WhatsApp.
Liz does not require the VA to work within her exact Toronto working hours.
The VA may work on a flexible schedule as long as communication remains open and the VA is able to respond within approximately half a day.
There is no requirement for the VA to be online at a specific time each day.
The priority is responsiveness, reliability, and meeting agreed deadlines.
5 hours per week
Liz specifically chose this as a conservative starting point because she wants to determine how much work she will have available for the VA.
The first month will also give Liz time to evaluate and improve her own content workflow and potentially increase her content output.
The engagement is expected to scale to the agency minimum of:
10 hours per week
As Liz's content production increases, there may be additional work available for the VA, including more podcast episodes, YouTube commentary videos, short‑form clips, thumbnails, and related content preparation.
She specifically asked to see examples of the editors' previous work before deciding whom to interview.
Candidates should therefore provide relevant samples, preferably demonstrating:
Candidates with podcast or educational/thought‑leadership content experience should be prioritized.
The VA will be successful if they can help Liz:
